Having two grandmothers from Naples, there was no way I could avoid good food. Angelina and Nutziatta always loved to cook. They knew how because they fed my 22 aunts and uncles all the time. I think those two great Napolitana women rarely ventured out of the house.Never cooked with any measurements. It was always a pinch and a pound for any recipe. And they rarely used salt. Their food was...

Reliable Restaurant

Market City Cafe is a nice restaurant. It's good for kids, parties, working lunches, etc. The gimmick is the glass filled with fresh breadsticks. Market City has a good selection of pasta, pizza and salads and it's pleasant enough. Prices are reasonable, service is good and the restaurant is nice, but it just feels a little impersonal. However, I eat there at least once a week, so I can't complain. (Edited March 22, 2007)

Great lunch place

We keep coming back to this place for lunch. I have low expectations for a chain-restaurant (even if it's a very small chain), but I'm positively surprised every time we go here. The specials are yummy and they post the prices on the board with them.

Extra bonus: rather than running back and forth with refills every 5 minutes (I'm thirsty!), they give you a pitcher of icetea. Yay!

great for pasta

As simple as this place is, I really like it. The servers are nice, the prices are reasonable and the food is really good. Fresh bread, fresh pasta - I seem to be stuck ordering the rotelle with cream sauce. Mmm.

Market City Caffe Restaurant Review

Situated near Burbank Town Center, this family-run Italian caffè features a casual atmosphere and hearty Italian cooking. If you order antipasto, you’re entitled to unlimited trips to the antipasto bar, for bruschetta with smoked mozzarella, roma tomatoes and balsamic vinegar; prosciutto di Parma with melon; and clams cooked in wine, parsley and garlic, among other delicacies. Wood-fired dishes...

Great staff , great servicw

First time we ate here, really enjoyed and will be back.

The Penne Al Pollo was delicious and enough for 2 people. Our waiter recommended it. Glad he recommended it.

Good service and good food

Great fresh food and excellent service

Been here for brunch twice. Definitely a good place to have brunch. Great service, great menu with lots of options especially the Antipasto bar. Love the varieties of portions they have. Reasonable price

The staff is great. The management is not. At 4:00 pm there was ONE server with two tables on the patio. One in the middle of the restaurant and two in the bar. The place is hurting so much it can't pay the hourly wage of another server between 3:00 and 5:00?

Sal does it again. Damn this place is HOT.

Love the pancetta wrapped shrimp and rigatoni and meatballs.

Old school Italian in a modern facility. Great sauces.

Damn good stuff. Sal and Kipper have been doing it right for decades. Was a weekly stop when we lived in Toluca Lake.

Big Sal has the best meatballs in town. Very big and tasty.

Wish they still had a place in Pasadena or Brea.

Really good food.

Excellent Italian food and great prices too. Love the Pancetta Shrimp.

We wish that they had one in Pasadena as Burbank is a bit of a trek but well worth it.
Great sauces and pastas.

There used to be about 3-4 MCC's in the area but now there is only one and it is fabulous.
I'd go to Casa Bianca for a pizza but anything else Italian it's Market City Café.

The Pancetta Wrapped Shrimp is out of this world good. Sal and Skipper do it right.

On a recent trip to L.A. we went back to Market City Caffe for old time sake. Sad to report that the Caffe has declined in the time we have lived in Florida. Nice location and tasty warm fresh bread. The food was mediocre. They have a fresh pasta festival, and the pasta itself was tender but the fillings too salty and unrefined. The salads were ok. By all means, everyone would call me a Los Angeleno as I have been here since I was 6 months old. With some brief stints in the OC and SD, I returned to the LA Area. This means I miss a lot, even things I don’t know I am missing. This brings me...

As one of only a few establishments that offer roaming bloody mary carts, Market City Caffe serves up custom carafes of table side made tomato cocktails. The rest of the food, particularly everything at the salad bar, is saturated in garlic. It's ridiculous. Lots of garlic does not a good meal make. Also, the service is consistently horrendous. The food is better than the norm and the patio is especially pleasant. Market City Caffe is good place for a long, relaxing meal.

The write up here says that the ambiance is ""good for children"" - and although I'm sure that's true, I'd say that the environment and menu is significantly more sophisticated than most kid's eateries.

Great for Groups – Enormous antipasto buffet bar with great lunch items. The inside is perfect for large groups and outside offers a quiet patio experience when shaded from the sun. No wonder so many of Burbanks professionals lunch here--the restaurant is large enough to accomodate its loyal patrons without having to eat up the lunch hour waiting to be seated. Tasty salads!
