Established in 1946, only a well-worn spot could offer such specialties like steak with all the trimmings. Forget the diet, you're eating well tonight. Right across from the Warner Bros Studios, the most famous item on this menu isn't meat related—it's the cheesy garlic bread. Try the early bird specials for a great discount. A draw with the Burbank movie studio crowd since 1946, the food at this all-American eatery may not be particularly memorable---except for the legendary garlic bread---but it's still fun to settle into a red leather booth with a steak and stiff martini and party like it’s 1955. Lee and Marti Spencer are the current owners, having taken back the restaurant in 2003 after selling it in 1992. Some...

Beneath a mantle of stars, couples swoon and studio sultans socialize. OK, it's more like this: The after-work set drowns its cares under a canopy of white Christmas lights,...
We took some friends who are younger than us for a nostalgic dinner at The Smoke House. Three of us had been going to here since the 60's with our parents. We used to have to dress in coats and ties! This place brings back many memories especially the garlic cheese bread and iceberg wedges. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. We had expected more mediocre fare. We actually...
Celebrating our 54th anniversary at the rare restaurant that is older than me was great.
The garlic bread and baby back ribs were perfect.
We enjoyed every minute.
Had the Filet Mignonette and it was fantastic. Food was perfect. Service was generally good but when we asked for boxes they just left them. Other good restaurants we have been to, they took plates and took care to load boxes.
Highly recommend this restaurant. A little noisy but food is perfect.
Love the Smokehouse . Excellent Food and Service...
Service was amazing by Marcos. Food was great as always.
Good food and decent prices. Historic place to have a nice meal.
Outstanding Chateaubriand steak for two. Service was perfect.
Service is good; food was good specially calamari.
Great prime rib. I wish I would have asked if I could pick my own choice for dressing on the wedge salad. It came with too much ranch or blue cheese. I couldn’t really tell which it was. I’m sure they would have accommodated if I had asked. Made a good old fashioned. Overall amazing and would eat here again.
Super good and consistent, as always. Same vibe as other classic LA restaurants like Chasen’s and Musso and Frank’s.
Fun and delicious. Met a few friends after a tour. Wait staff was great, and so was the food. Nice spot
Great company, good food and drinks. Looking forward to my next meal.
I’ve been going to the smokehouse since 1967. It’s one of my favorite restaurants.
I've used Open Table for my dining reservations for the past few years. I've even added special requests and those requests have been honored every time.
Loved the calamari and the shrimp cocktail appetizers. Actually, best calamari I've had in many Italian restaurants in LA! Portions are great and service is great. Only issue was it took a little long for the bill to come after lunch, but everyone is really nice and attentive, otherwise.
We had the chateau briand for two and it was perfect. Prepared rare like we ordered with tasty sides. Our server was professional and attentive.
Good food and drinks; server was excellent!!
Was celebrating our 54th Anniversary.
We saw some influencers talking about this place online and they spoke about its connection to old Hollywood. We put it on the list of places to visit. It was very classy. Old school charm and you can tell that Hollywood’s big names probably visited...over the years… that said, judging by the food- I don’t expect many returned for a second visit.
We had the trio of bbq food. It was all dry and...
My wife and I have been dining at The Smoke House for over two decades and this was far and away the worst experience we've ever had there. The waiter was very inexperienced and very slow with taking orders and delivering same. My wife ordered her entree from the appetizer menu and asked for it to be brought with my main course and we would share the salad I ordered. The waiter brought her dish...
The bar is like time stood still and welcomed you back to the golden age of film.
Great food! Loved the vibe!!!recommend 100%. Looking forward to kore dining here!
Sign on table: try and limit your stay to 2 hours. Great cosmopolitan. Reasonable prices
Loved our first visit, will be back for sure! Extra shout out to all the servers and valets. Great welcoming service.
This experience wasn't the greatest. I think maybe the server was overwhelmed with customers, but she wasn't extremely accessible. Booth was very tiny for 4 people. I wouldn't want to do that again.
The food came out WAY too quickly. My wife was a couple of bites into her soup when the entrees arrived and huge plates were just added to an already crowded table. Then, plates just sat way...
Have probably tried everything on menu, no regrets on any dish I have ever had there.
Classy and fun steakhouse with Burbank standards and quality! Excellent service and staff. Food was on point also. When we are ever in town, it is our must go to! Enjoy!
Thanks for the wonderful experience - always a pleasure to dine there. BBQ chicken is amazing.
It’s a classic! I can’t go to Smoke House enough!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary and it was amazing. the food was so good, we both got steak and it wasn’t to expensive. definitely coming here again. the service from our server i think his name was marco and he was so cool and friendly. he sang a anniversary song to us and it was so cute. 100% recommend to go here. we loved it
the steaks were mediocre for a “steakhouse” - the ribeye seemed like a supermarket piece of meat
Bar scene was great, although when asked if I could get blue cheese stuffed olives, I was told "No, we don't have them." .... only to find out, the bar keep was too lazy to go get them. Dining was about the same, waitress could care less to come back and check on how everything was. Fortunately I got the attention of a waiter who was not working my area of the dining room, and he took care...
Prime rib sandwich and clam chowder. Delicious!!! And bread of course.
Was a little disappointed this visit. B_B_Q- baked beans were cold when they arrived at the table. Had to ask the waiter twice for ketchup for my fries. Ketchup should have been brought and offered when the meal was delivered. Had to ask the busboy twice for a box to take food home. Have eaten here many times, so must have been an off day.
Great service for birthday dinner! Staff was very professional and food was great.
Love the smokehouse! Old charm delicious food and charming waiters! Happened to be very crowded the night we were there?
Have been a customer for years. It’s simply a nice place to dine.
Food-Excellent; Service-Excellent; Atmosphere-Perfect. Smokehouse is one of my two go-to places for dining out.
Service was great and all our food choices were tasty, hot & more than ample servings.
We were late for our reservation and the host was kind and accommodating. Service was amazing and everyone enjoyed their meals, especially dessert.
Celebrity sightings classic drinks plentiful portions
Food was good. Service lacked a bit. Runners need to be a bit better trained in our opinion.
The chateaubriand for 2 was EPIC! The quantity and quality was perfect! Thanks Smoke House
It was recommended by our Warner Brothers Studio Tour guide. It didnt disappoint. Old world interior with circular booths and great service. Food was amazing. Well worth the visit to this famous establishment.
Great service and food. We were seated within 15 minutes of arriving. Our waiter was very attentive, our food was delicious, and the overall experience was very positive.
A recommendation to try this establishment was well supported by the outcome. The welcome was warm and friendly. We were shown to our table and were given plenty of time to make our selection. I had the Tri-tip steak with beans and sweet potato fries....I asked for medium rare. That's how it came, accompanied with the smiling face of Hector. The food was delicious and Hector was very...
First time visit. Loved the setting, the neon sign out front, the history and the many celebrity photos adorning the walls. Ordered a perfectly cooked filet mignon, topped with a giant onion ring and the twice baked potato, all delectable. Would not recommend the garlic...bread-no garlic, too much paprika. Service was impersonal and hurried tho the Thursday dinner crowd was nonexistent....
Dinner was good, albeit a bit rushed! They automatically add the 20% service charge and then still ask for a tip on the receipt!
The only parking available is Valet and they charge you $8 but done give you change so May as well call...it $10. We don’t pay to park at a restaurant that we’re eating at in the UK so this seems a little steep. Would also prefer to park our own car, especially given...
Excellent cocktails and food. Service 5 Star. Very professional atmosphere. Great place to celebrate anything or just dine for the fun of it. Good live music in the bar area not too loud.
I have been a loyal customer since the 50's. This was the absolutely worst service I have ever experienced at this restaurant and I've been here hundreds of times. We had to ask someone else at least 6 times to find our waiter. After he...took our order and served our drinks, he disappeared! Five out of six meals were good, one was so bad it had to be sent back for something else. It think it...
Food was ok but only average. Menu has to be viewed on your phone which I didn’t like. No paper copies available. The music was far too loud and it was impossible to hear the waitress especially with masks on too. Needed to be background...music not dominating. It’s not a relaxing place for a meal and conversation. Some tables for 2 are literally up against the bar so not a great place to sit....
We had a reservation at the Smoke House to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. We had requested outdoor dining. When we arrived we discovered that the handicapped front patio was not in service. The only outside dining was at the far end of the restaurant. .....a long walk that neither my husband nor I could navigate with our walkers. The place is not accessible for the disabled who are still...
World famous garlic cheese bread should be world famous. It was hot, and delicious. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Entering this restaurant was like stepping into a scene from a a Hollywood movie from the 50s - in a good way. The atmosphere was...welcoming, and the menu had many tempting appetizers and main entrees. The wine list was also attractive, and we fell hard for a Cabernet. Niece and...
Old School Hollywood vibe with all the fixins. Primo red leather elegant booths and retro black leather cocktail chairs and tables.
Food was excellent and waiter was even better. We would highly recommend ❤️
Worst experience ever!
To celebrate my birthday we figured we would actually go in and sit down at our favorite neighborhood spot. We supported them during the pandemic with take-out and delivery. This is NOT the same place it has been for the last 30...yrs.
Shrimp cocktail? Don't know if it was any good, we never got it. The food we did get was awful. Burnt, burnt & raw. Sent it back 3 times...
First time at this steakhouse. French onion soup was tasty as well as the Betsy salad. All entrees come with veggies and a side. Reasonable price with old steakhouse feel
Do you like good food? Do you like red leather? Do you like vintage? This is the place for you! You should only order the garlic cheese bread. That's it. But if you're really hungry, any of the meat selection will do. I had the tri-tip. It was to die for! The beef stroganoff looked delicious! This is around the...
The food selection is great. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the constant attention and unlimited champagne.
Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday! We actually came in during Sunday brunch (my favorite)! They had an awesome arrangement and variety of food. They also had a crepe and omelette station. Great service and great history.
Never go there with a large party, they can only take 4 credit cards. They said that their equipment was old and could not do more than 4...Bul(profanity removed)! We had a party of 14 and wanted to do separate checks. This created a lot of confusion and everyone left not in a happy mood of which …
Waited a day to write this so I could have a fresh perspective. Didn't help. During the twenty years I lived in L.A. I never had a chance to give this place a try. Live in Las Vegas now and came into Southern California with my daughter on our annual daddy/daughter trip. She has friends that work at the …
Excellent service when I came here with my girlfriend last week. I ordered the rib-eye which was perfectly cooked to medium rare, while she ordered the filet. Leaving one star off the review because it was prepared rare when we ordered it medium. Oh well! The cheesy garlic bread is rather interesting.. almost takes like something from a cheetos bag but still delicious!
So much fun with my friends last night! Great food, great waitress were doing a shout out to Christina and a great photographer. The musicians were great as well. So fun so old school and a great eclectic mix of all ages. Go and have a great time! I would give ten stars if it was possible. GREAT !!!
Brought two of our closest friends here tonight for the first time and I totally regret it. You he food isn't what it used to be. We should've gone to Back Woods Inn instead. Their Garlic...
Family Reunion needed a restaurant, what to choose? City was Burbank so easy to pick. Outstanding food. The world's best garlic bread 50 years running. This is an old world steak house always great...
Been coming here for over forty years, but was recently blown away with excellent customer service by Christina and Sylvester. Christina was our waitress and has a fantastic personality....
We decided to go here for lunch after it was recommended during the Warner Brothers Studio Tour. As you arrive, there is only valet parking at the restaurant--but there is parking in the...
After 10 years of giving this place my business I will never return. Tonite the service was slow. I ordered a ribeye and sent it back 2 times. It was bloody.it came back cold and bloody again. The...

Hanging in there in Los Angeles proper, in this case Burbank, for as long as the Smoke House has been doing it gets immediate kudos. In an era where fickle tastes change faster than a traffic...
Old school since 1946. We had dinner here on Christmas night and the place was packed. We started off with their famous garlic bread, which was pretty good. I ordered The Smoke House Prime Rib...
Delicious food and great old Hollywood atmosphere!
Gustatory. First time Sunday brunch with a cousin who has been coming here since the late1950s. Huge selection including oysters, mussels, crablegs. Seven year old cousin twice removed went back eight times. Last portion was the famous cheese garlic bread. Good choice.
...the Smoke House is one of the oldest restaurants in Burbank, California and was opened in 1946. Due to its location, near the Warner Brother’s Studio, it became a haven for celebrities in its hay day. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Errol Flynn, Milton Berle, Judy Garland, and even James Dean could be found dining

The food is pretty good. Not out of this world good, but good. They cut a nice prime rib. But that’s not the reason you’re going. There are probably better places for Prime Rib or Barbecue. You’re coming to the Smoke House for the ambiance, for a little taste of Hollywood yesteryear, and that is worth the trip.
...
This place is really traditional and classic. They do a lot of movie shoots here (most recently, Argo). Prime rib, garlic bread, creamy mashed potatoes. So delicious.
I love the old-school feel of this restaurant, which has been around since 1946. It's dark with the red vinyl booths and specializes in prime rib, burgers, salmon and other basic dishes ripped out of the 1950s and '60s. No matter what you get, you have to try the garlic cheese bread to make the trip complete.
this place is across from warner bros. studios. it's large and dark with red leather booths. you can imagine joan crawford sitting there. wearing her jewels, and enjoying her rare steak. the food is delicious! reminds me of the kind of restaurant you woul
Great prices, yummy food & drinks. Very cozy atmosphere...
Go for the Garlic Bread!. The Smoke House is a classic and their garlic bread is the best, order the whole loaf. The food is consistent and it looks like they added some new items to the menu but I usually go for one of the salads since I go at lunch. My only issue is one of the rooms needs to have the air conditioning fixed. I went one day for lunch and the heat in the room was overwhelming. I...
Located directly across the street from Warner Bros, the Smokehouse has been favored by those who work there as a convenient place for lunch or dinner. The food is consistently good; the garlic bread is outstanding. The waiters are polite and attentive with a touch of humor. For a place that has been around since the late 40s The Smokehouse does well in keeping each new generation of customers...
Not impressed. Cheeseburger ok at best but not for $13 (expected better), homemade chips were decent. The wife had the salmon salad, the salmon was good but the dressing was disgusting (might as well pour pure mayo over the salad). Service was extremely slow and waiter even forgot about our drink order.
Wow talk about great food. I usually do not like steak but I must say their steak was the best I have had.
Wow talk about great food. I usally do not like steak but I must say their steak was the best I have had.
Came here with my friends the other day and we all loved the service. Food was OK though but the service was great.
Good Service – Came here with my friends the other day and we all loved the service. Food was OK though but the service was great.
Good Steak – Wow talk about great food. I usally do not like steak but I must say their steak was the best I have had.
Our Server Judy was great, however, the arrival experience was lack luster as the greeter was on the phone as we walked in. After he acknowledged our party he then shuffled us off to someone else. What really left me empty was there inability to prepare my steak at the right temp. Every one else ate while I was left to eat alone. Additionally, the steak was loaded with fat around its edges. There answer to the problem was to comp our garlic bread and give us sub standard dessert (Ice cream). How can a restaurant named Smoke house get a steak of all things wrong? To me a meal comp was in...

Everything here is done well
LOVE this place!
I don't see some of my friends that often, so when we finally have a schedule for a get-together, we ALWAYS come here for Sunday Brunch. The price is fantastic and the food is amazing. I won't even consider going to another buffet-style restaurant!
It might seem a little "old school" for some: the lighting and decor is dark and dated. Tables are very close together and sometimes a...
The best old stake house around. Classic with red boths and little lites. The blue cheese is the best. oh and lets not forget the fish and chips. Don't forget the smoked BBQ ribs, seafood, and world's famous garlic bread.
I went to The Smoke House last night and guess what? No smell of actual 'smoke', but it doesn't end there. I was with two others so there was a consensus as many other reviewers have written: The place has not kept up with...
Had dinner there on Valentines day.....was pretty good (my first time there). Cheese bread and fixed menu for $40.00. Very reasonable. Food was of good proportion and prime rib done as I requested. We were a party of 4...
I'm a regular here. Good food, lunch or dinner. They have live music in the bar area most nights of the week. This place is always top on my list for dinner or business. Parking is by valet only.

Cons
- Parking

The Smoke House has become consistently disappointing. The place feels tired, the menu is uninspiring - and it doesn't seem like the people in the kitchen have any professional pride left....
This restaurant has an amazing history with the Marine Corps. It is where the Combat Correspondents Association still meets and where The Marine Corps Reserve program Toys for Tots was founded. The atmosphere is rustic and the drinks and food are good.
11/18/09 - ordered chopped steak - rare. It came well done, and was obviously pre-cooked and reheated. The juice (grease) in the meat was rancid. This was seriously bad food!
On Monday 7/20 2 friends and i met for our yearly birthday lunch. We have always had memorable lunches with impeccable service and menu choices.
However, this year, we were sorely disappointed. We were seated and waited 20 mins. for someone to acknowledge us. Another 20 for drinks. 40 mins. for bread, which we ordered w/ the drinks. our waiter disappeared for long periods of time and the restaurant was not even half full. Suffice to say that after 2 hrs. of hell, we were not happy campers. When we asked for an order of garlic bread to go to be put on a separate ticket (it was for a friend),...

My family has dined at The Smokehouse for four generations. A couple of us planned to dine there for Christmas based upon their advertising sign which said to ""Call for Reservations."" When I did so, I asked if reservations were still open and was told yes. Then when I said it was a party of two, I was told I couldn't make a reservation - that I could only just show up (on Christmas Day!) because I would then be seated ""faster"" than if I had a reservation! What kind of B.S. is that?
I just want to alert others that the Smokehouse perhaps has recently changed hands or, for some...

The only thing Smoke House is good for is that AMAZING garlic cheese bread!!!! YUM!
I love their garlic cheese bread! Going just for that is worth the trip. Parking is either find it on the congested apartment street or valet. I don't mind valet, just hate to do it in the middle of the day during the week. The decor hasn't changed much, but I think that is part of the ambience and charm of this 60 year old restaurant. I definitely would recommend this place :

I loved the service ans the food. The garlic bread is to dye for,
Check out this entertainment mainstay and you can "feel" the history of Hollywood... from the red leather booths, to the fireplace and cozy tables. They have all the favorites - great prime rib, wonderful seafood and make sure you get an extra order of cheese bread just to take home! The Sunday brunch is wonderful as well.
Hadn't been there in a while so the wife and I joined two other couples for dinner. The food was still excellent but very pricey. Service was less than impressive considering the cost of the meal. Steak was good and so...
For the price I paid, I would expect better service. The waiter did not come back to check if we needed anything. We had to get up and look for our server. The food was average too. I would go here for drinks only....

It’s across from the Warner Brothers Studios and I’ve heard a lot of celebrities eat there but none were there when I went. It’s slightly expensive but the food was good overall.
never going again: Our service was awful. The food was gross. When I called the following day to let them know, Israel, the general manager did apologize and was going to send a gift certificate for brunch. Thus far,...
You want old school? You found it. Martinis, red vinyl, and free fried zucchini at happy hour.
Old school Hollywood type joint...booths with overstuffed upholstery, well dressed waiters. Back in the day, Ed McMahon was a fixture at the bar.
Best place in the Valley
This place has not changed in decor since the 1950's. The night scene is dead here.
good jazz night, oldie nights for the oldie crowds. wonderful atmosphere and food, pricy, but tasty.
I had been wanting to try the Smoke House for a while, being fairly new to the area I heard it was a legendary place. I was a little disappointed; the food was okay, there wasn't anything wrong with it, but it was just okay. The service was fine, again nothing really special. I just wasn't impressed enough to want to go back. I thought the prices were way too high for the quality of food that was served.
Pros
+ Decent service, okay food.
Cons
- Prices are too high, food was just average.

In ShortThis old-school steakhouse attracts industry types for lunch, blue-haired ladies and gents for the early-bird dinner specials, and retro-seeking lounge lizards at night. Located across from Warner Bros. Studios, the ambience of this sedate Burbank establishment has remained intact since its 1946 debut. Moderately priced fare appeals to Valleyites seeking a meat-and-potatoes fix, or...

Mmmm, cheese bread!: This place is walkable from the very busy WB backlot and has been around for eons. It's a very "old school" Hollywood dining experience and the menu and decor are quite retro, but comfortable....
I went to the Smoke House for a friends b-day party. The ambiance was ok, a little loud for my taste, we were seated immediately (we did have resevervations). The bartender makes a great Kandaroo (vodka martini) however the service was very slow, and honestly the food wasn't that great. It wasn't bad per se but it was bland. I think I'd give it at least 1 more try before discounting it all together b/c they may have been having an off night but not more than once more it's too expensive to have bad food/service twice. It is definitely over priced for the taste but the portion sizes are...

Been Going There For Years and Years – I absolutely LOVE this old-fashioned Steak House. The garlic/cheese bread is NOT to be missed. The Prime Rib is excellent. The drinks are good and strong. I prefer eating in the bar area, darker and sometimes entertainment. The prices are most fair. Highly recommended

Love the place!: I've been going to the Smokehouse for the past 20 years and am never disappointed. It's the closest I've ever come in L.A. to a New York City restaurant that invites you to be alone with your drink or...

The food is really good. Their fampus signature garlic bread is fantastic. The atmosphere is 1940's steakhouse.
The problem: It is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!!
Not to worry though, go before 6 PM and they have Early Bird Specials. The special are still kinda high priced, but do-able.
Give it a try.
Note: The valet is a rip-off. Don't pay them $5 to park your car, there is plenty of street parking right in front of the place.
Pros
+ Food, Atmosphere, Garlic Bread
Cons
- Prices, Valets

The best cheese bread in town!
Great Garlic Cheese Bread – We seem to forget about the Smoke House. We have had many great dining experiences here. The Garlic Cheese Bread is really great. I would highly recommend this place if your in the Valley.

+ Garlic Cheese Bread, Steaks
Good old fashioned steak and potatoes.
If you don't want to go to a place that looks like it's straight out of the 40's, don't go The Smoke House. Great Martini's, they bring them in their own little pitcher on ice, ensuring you an ice cold martini down to the last sip. Both times I've eaten there I've gotten the Prime Rib. They have great Prime Rib. My wife has had the Baked Stuffed Shrimp. Definite flashbacks of my childhood in Rhode Island with that. The shrimp were stuffed with a crab/bread crumb mixture. Very tasty. We like eating in the bar.

I have had both lunch and dinner here on several occasions. Always consistent, excellent food. The roast turkey dinner is the best I have had anywhere. Drinks are the close to the best in town, and the huge bar and lounge has a inviting atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Early bird specials are a real bargain, and portions are probably too large for most people. From my first visit in the early 80's until now I haven't been dissappointed. The restaurant sits across from Warner Bros. studio complex and seems to hold a lot of appeal to the movie crowd as lunch time is usually very busy.

Past its Prime – There's no reason to go to the Smoke House except for their world famous cheese garlic bread. It is soooo good. Best I've ever had. It's really that simple.
The menu hasn't changed since the restaurant opened many decades ago. And that wouldn't be such a problem if the food were still good meat and potato fare. But it's not. I hate to say it, but you can almost get comparable if not better food at Sizzler.
The bar area could be very classy and should have capitalized more on the Swingers craze in the 90s, but it never got with the program. Instead, it's cheapened itself...

No matter when you arrive, however, you'll get a great meal that is...
