The Smoke House Restaurant Review

A draw with the Burbank movie studio crowd since 1946, the food at this all-American eatery may not be particularly memorable---except for the legendary garlic bread---but it's still fun to settle into a red leather booth with a steak and stiff martini and party like it’s 1955. Lee and Marti Spencer are the current owners, having taken back the restaurant in 2003 after selling it in 1992. Some...

Swill drinks with aging starlets and the producers who love them at this 1950s Burbank mainstay.

In Short
Beneath a mantle of stars, couples swoon and studio sultans socialize. OK, it's more like this: The after-work set drowns its cares under a canopy of white Christmas lights,...

We took some friends who are younger than us for a nostalgic dinner at The Smoke House. Three of us had been going to here since the 60's with our parents. We used to have to dress in coats and ties! We actually...

Celebrating our 54th anniversary at the rare restaurant that is older than me was great.
The garlic bread and baby back ribs were perfect.
We enjoyed every minute.

Had the Filet Mignonette and it was fantastic. Food was perfect. Service was generally good but when we asked for boxes they just left them. Other good restaurants we have been to, they took plates and took care to load boxes.
Highly recommend this restaurant. A little noisy but food is perfect.

The SmokeHouse was built at the end of WWII and is one of the few L.A. restaurants of that era to survive to today. It has the decor and aura of a different age and has grown steadily with the growth of the movie industry and through word of mouth in the Burbank community.
