Singer, songwriter and fiddler, Laura Cortese lights up the stage with a radiating smile, dazzling musicianship and uninhibited delight. She deftly strums, plucks and chops her fiddle behind her raw and rootsy voice. Forgoing the guitar and bass of the traditional rock band, Cortese tours nationally with indie rock/folk drummer Neil Cleary (Annie Hayden, The Essex Green, Erin McKeown). On her...

Decent wings and beer

Tagged along with my friend since she was hungry. I ate some of the Alfredo fries and a couple of lemon pepper chicken wings. I started with a Guinness, which was $6 and served in a small glass. After that, I just stuck to their light lagers, which come in larger glasses and are fairly priced.

If you like hanging out at sports bars to catch a game and drink beer, then this is the place for you. Big Wangs isn't really my cup of tea, but I can't deny that the food was pretty tasty. Although, I may have to come back to get one of the steins of beer they sell.

The “closest thing Hollywood has to a frat-boy college bar”, this Cahuenga corridor strip-maller is a “great place to watch the big game” with your buds or “high-five a stranger” when your team scores; “always a bit loud and bro-ish”, but boasting “yummy” wings, “tons of TVs” and “inexpensive” pitchers of beer, it’s “usually a good time.”

Jock bar with more mohawks and slightly less hostility towards women. Farm animals, karaoke in corn fields, garlic chicken Wangs, big screen sports barn and displaced Midwestern alternatives reliving their shitty hometown drinking holes. Young Angelinos who shun this kind of place in the Valley, but find it novel in H-Wood. Themed daily happy hours have us screaming Hee-Haw! Size issues...

Good-time, barn-themed bar with chicken wings and down-home drinking along the Cahuenga Corridor.

I've had better wings here. And not to mention when they were .50 cents! The wings were very small, hardly any meat and overly cooked-crunchy. And these were from their normal menu. The...
